Single-molecule and super-resolution microscopy at the University of Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Single-Molecule Biophysics (ESMB) Group started at the University of Edinburgh in 2018.

Headed by Mathew Horrocks, we are based in the School of Chemistry, and the Chancellor's building (Royal Infirmary), at the University of Edinburgh. We use physical chemistry to understand the biological processes associated with disease. In particular, we are interested in developing and using fluorescence-based single-molecule and super-resolution methods to understand neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
